Part 1: The Think Faster, Talk Smarter Methodology - Six Steps To Better Spontaneous Speaking
1 Calm: Tame the Anxiety Beast
2 Unlock: Maximize Mediocrity
3 Redefine: Mind Your Mindset
“Yes, but …”から"Yes, and …"
4 Listen: Don’t Just Do Something … Stand There
Step 1: Slow Your Pace
Step 2: Make space for reflections
- Clarifying question
- Paraphrase what you hear, and
- Comment on what hasn’t been said.
5 Structure: Structure Your Spontaneity
Enhance Stickiness
- 中盤:Raise the stakes.
Classic, All-Purpose Structures:
- What - So What - Now What
- Prep (Point, Reason, Example, Point)
- Problem - Solution - Benefit
- Comparison - Contrast - Conclusion. 2
- Situation - Task - Action - Result
6 Focus: The F-Word of Spontaneous Speaking (Focus)
Precision "Um, What’s the point exactly?” Bottom line: Have a clear goal - know, feel, do
- What do you want people to know?
- What do you want people feel?
- What do you want people to do?
Relevance “Why should I care?” Bottom line: focus on importance and salience for your audience
Accessibility: “Why is this stuff so complicated?” Bottom line: Make your content understandable by avoiding jargon and acronyms.
Part 2: Talking Smarter in Specific Situations
1 Going Big on Small Talk
Seek Comparable Levels of Self-disclosure
Avoid putting your partner on the spot
I’m glad that I’m not the only one who struggles to make a good pasta source."
2 Toasts That Tantalize (and Tribute and Introductions, too)
WHATの構成。
- Why are we here
- How are you connected
- Anecdotes or learnings
- Thank
Tips:
3 Make That (Im)perfect Pitch
4 Rocking the Q&A
5 Feedback That Doesn’t Flop
- Information
- Impact
- Invitation
- Implication.
