To be a good software engineer

Way of the Wolf

The prospect must love your product.

The prospect must trust and connect with you.

The prospect must trust and connect with your company.

Lower action threshold.

Raise the pain threshold.

Straight Line System

The First Four Seconds

“Listen, Bill, you need to trust me on this. I’ve been doing this for fifteen years, and I know exactly what you need.“

First, you’re sharp as a tack.

Second, you’r enthusiastic as hell.

Third, you’re an expert in your field — an authority figure and a force to be reckoned with.

Tonality and Body language

State Management

Future pacing.

NLP Anchoring.

A Surefire Formula for Managing Your State

Advanced Tonality

I care / I really want to know. Hi John, how are you?”

Phrasing declarative as a question. Example: https://youtu.be/zNL_-hTiFVE

Mystery and intrigue.

Scarcity.

Absolute certainty. Wolf of the Wall Streetの”The name of the company is ... awaiting imminent patent approval on the next generation of radar detectors that have both huge military and civilian application. ”

Utter sincerity.

The reasonable man. “I’m reasonable. If you have 60 seconds, I’d like to share the idea. You got a minute?” “Sound fair enough?” “Does that make sense to you? Do you like the idea?”

Hypothetical, money-aside tone. “Hypothetically speaking, putting money aside, does the idea makes sense to you?”

Implied obviousness.

I feel your pain.

Advanced Body Language

pacing and leading.

The Art of Prospecting

gathering intelligence (qualifying prospects).

  • Buyers in heat.
  • Buyers in power.
  • Lookie-loo.
  • Mistakes.

Ten Rules of Straight Line Prospecting

  1. You are a sifter, not an alchemist.
  2. Always ask for permission to ask question. “John, let me ask a couple of questions so I can best serve you.”
  3. You must always use a script.
  4. Go from less invasive questions to invasive questions.
  5. Ask each question with right tonality.
  6. Use the correct body language as the prospect responds.
  7. Always follow a logical path.
  8. Make mental notes; don’t resolve their pain.
  9. Always end with a powerful transition.

Well, John, based on everything you just told me, this program isn’t a particularly good fit for you.

Well, John, based on everything you just said to me, this program is definitely a perfect fi for you. Let me tell you why…

  1. Stay on the Straight Line; don’t go spiraling off to Pluto.

The Art and Science of Looping

Does that ring a bell?”

the last time we spoke, I promised to get back to you when I come across an investment idea that has huge potential with very little downside risk.

Deflection. I understand what you’re saying. But let me ask a question. Does this idea make sense to you?”

Exactly, it really is a great buy down here! In fact, one of the true beauties here is ...”

Now that I understand. You don’t know me and I don’t have luxury of track records. Let me take a moment to reintroduce myself. My name is... in... I pride myself on...
